Bright Toddler Bib

This bib is made from a piece of fabric from the bundle that broke my fabric fast. I loved these rainbow designs of all sorts of things when they came out. I have teddy bears, sheep, chillis, jellybeans and frogs, all used in various projects. My daughter used this doggie fabric and a solid bright green to make the quilt that is used on the bed in her guest room.

Celebrations

For a long time March has been a very happy month in my family. Our darling girl was a March baby and so is her little daughter. My two nephews, my niece, my two older brothers and one of our bonus daughters have their Birthdays during this month as well.

March of 2014 was quite a month of events, not just birthdays. After fighting bravely for two years, my very dear Sister lost her battle with an aggressive, unrelenting armanent of cells. The tide could not be turned.

We had a beautiful celebration of her life and work. She was a talented artist wife, mother, grandmama, sister, auntie, great auntie, teacher and friend.

I was unsure of writing about this here, but I do share family news now and then. My blog is about what I love in my life, and I love my sister and miss her very much. Today would have been her 62nd Birthday. She left us too soon.

Every Drop Counts.

I was expecting to garden today, but instead it is cold, wet and windy. Everything is greening up nicely, so the rain is very welcome . I have been working on my "ROAR" Quilt. It is another pinwheel design, four times four blocks and no border. It took quite a while to build the pieced strip for the backing using the leftover scraps. I had started machine quilting but was not happy and unpicked it. The variegated thread is heavier than I normally use and the stitches were becoming uneven in the corners. After research and some adjustment to my machine I am now quilting each triangle individually. This uses a lot more thread but it makes the quilt very robust and washable.

Taking a break from the quilting, I made another Blanket of Love to send to Cheryll this week. It feels like a drop in the ocean because there are about 2000 stillbirths in Australia each year. There may be other hospitals closer to home that have a need for such blankets so I am making some enquiries.

Three More Blankets of Love

This is a project I will continue to participate in. I have finished three more and will post them to Cheryll after Easter.

On a Bender.

I have flung reason and caution to the wind and run amok ! But only to the extent of three more fabric bundle purchases on the internet. I found some vintage Debbie Mumm and very pretty florals in pinks and mauves. (I have a Granddaughter now so I need pink!) There is only one more on my watch list and then I will be on the wagon again. No, really. Promise.

Fallen off the Wagon.

My fabric fast had been going very well and any purchases had been necessary to complete a quilt. I had avoided clearance tables, op shops and online auctions with determination that surprised some people. It all started to fall apart when I found a collection of Roar fabric in a different colour path and it was on sale. Then I had a little look at the online auctions and a lovely bundle that included some fabric I already had was purchased for only $12.50. I didn't even make it to the end of March. No excuses, I have lapsed.

Modern Baby Quilt

I finished this quilt in good time for a new arrival thinking it was a neutral pattern and colour scheme. It is a Disappearing Nine Patch B...
